Policy Changes – Houses in Multiple Occupancy

British Destinations with the support of member destinations, lead by Blackpool Council, have been lobbying behind the scenes for a major change of approach to the issues of HMOs in Britain’s seaside resorts.  In doing so we have gained the support of many other organisations, including the Tourism Alliance (England) and within the Alliance a  number of the major, principally private sector tourism trade associations and representative bodies.  This wider body of interests has significantly enhanced the impact of our arguments made to Government and to all the major political parties in the run up to the General Election.

Our current efforts will be pursued post General Election with the new Government and the principal opposition parties.   The key arguments made are summarized in the following presentation: HMOs and Guesthouses.
